– Rumeal Robinson makes two free-throws with 3” left to play in the overtime. Michigan beats Seton Hall 80-79 and wins its first NCAA trophy. An incredible victory, considering that Steve Fisher won the championship only two weeks after beginning coaching the team. So far, that is the only NCAA championship won by Michigan.
– Ed O’Bannon scores 30 points and catches 17 rebounds, leading UCLA to its first NCAA title in 20 years. It is the first important win for Jim Harrick, too: his team won against Arkansas 89-78.
- Michael Jordan reaches 29,000 career points in the victory over Minnesota with the score of 107-93. Apart from ‘His Airness’, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant and Wilt Chamberlain passed this goal.
– Kendall Gill of the New Jersey Nets recorded 11 steals against the Miami Heat. It ties the record for most steals in one game, set by Larry Kenon in 1976.
– Jerry Stackhouse scores 57 points in the victory of the Detroit Pistons over the Chicago Bulls 110-83. It is his career-high.
