Mark Cuban’s mad idea: he wants a woman to play for the Mavericks!

Brittney Griner, very talented play of Baylor, could be part of the Dallas Mavericks’ roster in the next season, at least in the preseason. Griner is a 6’8” center who plays for the Baylor Bears and has impressed with her 3283 points and 748 blocks, along with 18 dunks, which is a news in women’s basketball. She is a three times All-American and this year she has been the Big 12 Player of the Year. He averaged outstanding numbers in her senior season: 23,8 points, 9,4 rebounds, 2,4 assists, 4,1 blocks while shooting 60,7% from the field in 30,8 minutes per game. Moreover, she is shooting 71,2% from the free-throw line and she is the best player of her team even in this statistic.

Before the game between his Mavericks and the Lakers, Mark Cuban said that he is thinking about the chance to draft the Griner in the second round of the NBA Draft 2013. “I’d just like to see if she can do it. You never know unless you give somebody a chance, and it’s not like the likelihood of any late-50s draft pick has a good chance of making it.” And what if the Mavericks do not choose her? No problem. Cuban added that Griner will be part of the Dallas Mavericks’ roster in the Summer League anyway, so that people can see her impact in the NBA.

Cuban is one of the most eccentric owners of the NBA. He has been collecting fines for years because of a lot of reasons and he is always in the spotlight for his weird releases. Is this only the last provocation of the Mavs’ owner or will Brittney Griner truly play for the Mavericks in the next season? If so, Griner’s entrance in the best basketball competition in the world would represent a pivotal turning point in basketball history.
