April, 5th: Webber’s incredible timeout, the first Chinese in the NBA and Kidd’s milestones

1957- Wilt Chamberlain grabs 41 rebounds in a single NBA playoff game, establishing a league record. His Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics 115-104.

1981- One more time the Sixers, which make history blocking 21 shots in a playoff game won against the Milwaukee Bucks 125-122.

1984- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar becomes the NBA all-time leading scorer, passing Wilt Chamberlain who had 31,419 points.

1993– Chris Webber makes one of the most incredible mistakes in basketball history. NCAA Final, his Michigan Wolverines are trailing 73-71 with 11” left to play and the ball possession. They do not have any timeouts left, but Webber, not managing to pass the ball to anyone, calls a timeout, although the whole bench was screaming: “No timeout! No timeout!”. The referee blows a technical foul on him and the North Carolina Tar Heels win the title.

2001– Wang Zhizhi is the first Chinese to play in an NBA game. He records 6 points and 3 rebounds in 8 minutes for the Dallas Mavericks in the match wan against the Atlanta Hawks.

2009– Jason Kidd establishes three milestones in the same night. He improves the Dallas Mavericks’ franchise record of assists in a single half (16) and in a single game (20) and he passes Magic Johnson (10,141) for the 3rd place in all-time assists leaders
